Photo contest on Vietnam hub’s heritage calls for submissions

Local and foreign photographers, professional or not, are all welcome to take part in the first photo competition on Ho Chi Minh City’s heritages.

The competition, jointly organized by HCMC Museum and HCMC Heritage Association, will close by 5pm on Oct 20, 2014.

Submissions are photos taken of tangible heritage, including historical relics, scenic spots, antiques and national treasures; as well as intangible heritage, such as traditional festivals, handicrafts, arts and costumes, and customs.

The participating photos are supposed to reflect both the heritage’s immense values and the effective or inadequate conservation of such treasures.

Authors can send in their single photos or a collection of three to 12 photos at HCMC Museum, 114 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, District 1.

The length of the photos, which are unpublished ones, must be not under 30cm and more than 45cm.

The first prize for the winning photo collection is VND10 million (US$471) and that for the single winning photo is VND7 million.

The competition is part of the activities to commemorate the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on Nov 23.

Several of the winning photos will be exhibited on the occasion.

With more than 140 relics and numerous intangible cultural heritages across HCMC, the organizers expect to receive stunning photos, which can promote the city’s cultural legacy to people across the country and the world.
