Mai Chau Overview
Mai Chau is a rural district of Hoa Binh province and far about 135 km from Hanoi capital. The scenery of Mai Chau attracts many tourists and the idyllic, rural valley of Mai Chau is completely different sceneries. Rice paddies sprawl out and the mountains fade sleepily into the horizon. The only sound here is that of the delicate birdsong, nature, the mumbles of the buffaloes, the squawk of the chickens, and the sound of children playing freely in the fields. Nowadays, Mai Chau has become an very popular tourist destination in Vietnam, it has retained its untouched scenery, welcoming and laidback ambience.
Moc Chau town itself placed in a fertile valley enveloped on either side by rambling hills all carpeted in thick green color. The paddies fields of the town provide the main rice for the people living there and elegantly change color according to the seasons. In Spring season, the fields are bright with green of the new crop plants. Over the Summer this gradually changes, the rice paddies morphing into a sea of yellow color in the Autumn.
Most inhabitants of the towns are populated by the White Thai ethnic community but there are also some others in the area such as the H’mong Village of Xa Linh. The villages are small and blend with the hills and mountains. The majority of houses are dexterous built using a combination of timber and bamboo with thatched roofs. The main trades here are farming, weaving, tourism. The hospitality of the households is one of the main charms and the laid-back atmosphere of the environment and scenery seems to be an most attractive things drawing tourists visit this land.
